Miné
Experience
I first spotted Miné in SOHO at the corner of Lafayette and Spring on that busy traffic island with people just darting past her not blinking an eye. She was just laying there so peacefully as the sun came around the building and hit her with a spotlight. I stopped to get a cup of coffee, and when I came back she was gone!! I thought, ‘how could a stuffed animal just get up and walk away?’.. I looked around but could see her anywhere, and could see anyone carrying anything that resembled a dog. It was the strangest thing.
The next time I saw her, I was on the highline with a friend of mine enjoying the beautiful weather at the end of the summer, and as we were passing the oversized statue of a pigeon, we noticed the same dog at the base of the sculpture! I noticed that the dog had a QR code on its collar so I decided to scan it, and take a look..
Name
I decided to name her Miné, sort of as a joke with an old friend that used to write “mine” on everything he didnt own. I did buy the dog, but the feeling of ownership is funny with an animal…. do we really actually own the animal, or do they own us?
